The NC State University Libraries received funding in 2001 from an anonymous donor to establish the Tom Regan Animal Rights Collections. The funding was used to organize, preserve and provide access to notes, letters, manuscripts and typescripts, books and pamphlets, and audiovisual materials documenting Regan’s work, which provides much of the philosophical and ethical underpinnings for the contemporary animal rights movement in the United States.
Regan served on the NC State University faculty from 1967 to 1999, culminating with his position as Head, Philosophy & Religion, from 1996-1999.
