Marta Bogdanska
Creativity, 2023, Grantee Link >CAF gave Polish photographer, filmmaker, and cultural manager Marta Bogdanska a grant for her multimedia project called “Vive la Résistance!” Marta writes: “Vive la Résistance! tells the story of animal resistance in a subversive and surprising way. At the core of this project lies a question: how to talk about animal agency and resistance. Animals are often referred to as the the mute, silent, quiet ones; I am interested in proving otherwise and exploring those aspects that are pushed aside in our common culture. The project will investigate these topics through three short films and three specially created soundscapes.” Marta graduated from the Academy of Photography in Warsaw before presenting many exhibitions and publishing an award-winning photography book in 2022. Marta lives in Warsaw, Poland.
Marta has now completed three short films for Vive la Résistance!, as well as four audio pieces, and is submitting them for exhibitions. She has given talks about her project and held an open studio event to present some of her research at the Institute for Postnatural Studies in Madrid, where she has an artist’s residency. A limited second edition of Marta’s book, SHIFTERS, is available for order here.
“Vive la Résistance!” will be shown (in part), in a first solo exhibition, at the Fort Institute for Photography in Warsaw, Poland, between December 5, 2024 and February 16, 2025.
