Carol J. Adams, author of The Sexual Politics of Meat and many other books, will give the first Annual Tom Regan Memorial Lecture at North Carolina State University. This event commemorates the work of CAF co-founder Tom Regan, who was on the philosophy faculty at NC State for over 34 years. Entitled “Animal Ethics and Contemporary Politics,” Carol’s lecture will argue that animal philosophy and theory decenter the human and question and challenge white privilege, male privilege, patriarchy, xenophobia, and “American exceptionalism.” CAF Board Member and professor of philosophy Mylan Engel will be introducing Carol. The event is jointly sponsored by the Culture & Animals Foundation and by the NC State Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.
