Helen MacKenzie

Helen Mackenzie is a British-based researcher and artist who melds bioremediation, art installation, and animal advocacy. She creates artworks that are then “introduced” to animals, who alter them through their interaction with them, and in doing so, restore the biota of the land. The art serves not only to provide these animals with a chance to play and create but also as a form of “eco-atonement,” as Mackenzie puts it, for what we have done to them and the land. CAF provided her with a grant to encourage her in the “symbiosis project.”
