María Ruiz Carreras
Creativity, 2021, Grantee Link >María Ruiz Carreras received a grant for a podcast called Estudios Críticos Animales (ECA) which features interviews with scholars and activists. She writes:
In Spanish-speaking countries there is a lot of great research and activism being done in the field of Critical Animal Studies. But there are still two important communication gaps: one between researchers and activists and another gap between what researchers discover, what activists do, and what reaches society. The purpose of this project is helping to bridge these gaps, making the scientific knowledge and the activist experiences accessible and creating lines of communication amongst researchers, activists, and the general public.
María completed her project, which to date (January 2024) includes two dozen episodes, featuring Argentine legal scholar and 2019 CAF grantee Silvina Pezzetta, Ruth Toledano, Oscar Horta, Marta Martínez, and others. In 2023, ECA joined the international animal podcasting network, IROAR. ECA Podcast is the first non-English podcast, and has earned a solid 5-star rating on Spotify.
