Amarillo Ngozi

“La Musée du Carnisme” (Museum of Carnism), for which Amarillo Ngozi was awarded a CAF grant, is a digital museum dedicated to exploring the hidden realities of carnism — the belief system, developed by social psychologist Melanie Joy, that normalizes and justifies animal exploitation. Blending art, architecture, and vegan ethics, the museum aims to make carnism visible and difficult to ignore through immersive 3D environments and interactive exhibits, reaching audiences who may not engage with academic or philosophical texts.
The grant enabled Al-Ma’arri to build the project’s core infrastructure: a live website with a secured domain and a 3D museum environment approximately 90% complete. The space takes the form of an industrial slaughterhouse structure, using the kill line as metaphor — conveyor systems move symbolic information containers through the space, representing how carnism processes, packages, and obscures violence. What remains is the placement of graphic content within the environment, finalizing the written narrative, and publishing the completed interactive experience. The museum’s public launch, with planned promotion across digital platforms, is anticipated within the year.
